Caroline Peine Transitional Shelter
The Caroline Peine Transitional Shelter provides housing to individuals and families without homes in Riley County and the close surrounding area. Striving to maintain a safe and clean environment for the community's homeless population, the Caroline Peine Transitional Shelter also advocates in the acquisition of affordable permanent housing for residents. MESI provides comprehensive services to ensure that clients’ basic needs are met and they are also integrated with other services and resources in the community. The Caroline Peine Transitional Shelter provides the unique, year round, 24 hour accessibility to not only the clients served, but also to the community as a whole.
MESI serves homeless men and women over the age of 18 and homeless families with and without children. To qualify for services, an individual must be without a home and requesting emergency shelter, be free of sex offenses, and not be on the no return list. An individual may be placed on the no return list if they have seriously violated MESI’s policies in the past, been provided financial assistance in the last year with a sustainable housing plan, or stayed at the Caroline Peine Transitional Shelter repetitively. If you have been placed on the no return list and would like to have that placement overturned, please contact MESI by phone to speak with Case Management.
